Patrick Gräser, performing as Answer Code Request, is a Berlin-based producer and Berghain resident who emerged with the anonymous Subway Into EP in 2011, establishing himself as a key figure in Ostgut Ton's roster. Hailing from Fürstenwalde, a small East German town also home to Marcel Dettmann and Marcel Fengler, Gräser developed a distinctly hybrid approach that eschews straight four-to-the-floor grooves in favor of intricate breaks, pad-driven harmonies, and industrial textures. His work spans ambient passages and complex drum patterns, incorporating influences from UK garage and IDM, as heard on landmark releases including the albums Code and Gens. As both a DJ and producer, Gräser has maintained a central role in Berlin's electronic music landscape while touring globally, refusing to conform to prevailing sonic trends within the city's club culture.
