Brenda Curtis is a Chicago-based techno artist active in the underground scene since the late 1990s. A classically trained pianist and saxophonist, she balances a career in molecular and cellular biochemistry with DJing. She holds a three-year residency at Smartbar and serves as A&R and curator for Format Recordings, the Chicago collective she helps run alongside Format.FM, a long-running podcast that documents the local resident DJ community. Her sets explore darker, hypnotic techno with moments of jazzy melody and rhythmic intensity, drawing from soulful influences across house and drum & bass.
