3 SETS LOGGED · SINCE 2017

Marlon Silva, known as DJ Marfox, was born in Lisbon to parents from São Tomé e Príncipe and grew up in the city's suburban housing estates. He began deejaying in 2002 and co-founded DJs do Guetto in 2005, releasing their landmark first compilation two years later—a foundational document of batida, the Afro-Portuguese dance sound fusing kuduro, kizomba, funaná and tarraxinha with house and techno. Marfox became a figurehead of Lisbon's emerging scene, releasing on Príncipe Discos, Lit City Trax, and Warp Records, with notable EPs including Eu sei quem sou and Chapa Quente. His work has evolved to integrate African polyrhythms, Indian folk, and Brazilian influences, marked by metallic textures and sci-fi dissonance. He continues to record and perform internationally.
