Though based in Japan, he has become a regular at international venues including Berghain in Berlin, where he has performed multiple times since 2012. His early musical training in guitar and clarinet led him through punk and dub before he embraced electronic music, drawing from warehouse parties and sources ranging from hip-hop to thrash metal. His label Bitta, launched in 2012, reflects his eclectic approach. Nobu's DJ sets, which have earned him invitations to festivals like Dekmantel and Terraforma, are characterized by deep yet hard-hitting selections that refuse fixed genre boundaries. His recent work explores increasingly introspective and experimental territory, grounded in meditation and Buddhist philosophy.
