Franz Scala is an Italian DJ and producer based in Berlin since 2006, originally from Chieti in Abruzzo. He founded Slow Motion Records in 2009, a label dedicated to Italian producers working with Italo disco and related sounds. His sonic palette weaves Italian Dance, Psychedelic Disco, and Proto House with touches of New Wave and Acid. Scala has been instrumental in Berlin's Italo disco revival, organizing events including Italorama Bar at Panorama Bar and the long-running Wrong Era series. He has released on Slow Motion alongside other labels including World Unknown, Bordello A Parigi, and Tusk Wax, and has issued two albums: Mondo Della Notte and Café Futuro, the latter named after a bar he ran in Neukölln that served as a gathering space for the Italo and Cosmic Disco communities.
