Fred Ventura is the stage name of Milan-based Italian producer and vocalist Federico Di Bonaventura, born in 1962. He began his musical journey in the late 1970s as a drummer in punk and new wave bands before joining State of Art as a vocalist during the early 1980s. His solo career took root in the Italo Disco scene, where from 1983 to 1989 he released numerous 12-inch singles characterized by early synthesizer-based songwriting. Throughout his career he has founded several record labels including Evolution Records, Free Zone, Milano 2000, and the production outfit Bedroom Rockers; he has also worked with neo-disco oriented producers on the Dutch label Clone, helping revive interest in Italo Disco through the late 1990s and 2000s.
