Dutch-Italian composer and sound designer Aimée Portioli is based in Berlin, where she has performed at Berghain and other international venues. Recording as Grand River since the mid-2010s, Portioli makes experimental electronic music shaped by minimalism and ambient music, combining acoustic instruments and synthesizers with formal compositional techniques. Her albums Pineapple (2018) on Spazio Disponibile and Blink A Few Times To Clear Your Eyes (2020) on Editions Mego established her approach to atmospheric, rhythmically complex work. Since 2016, Portioli has run the label One Instrument, which releases sound experiments using single instruments. Beyond studio albums, she creates sound art installations and spatial audio pieces.
