Intergalactic Gary (John Scheffer) was born in Wellington, New Zealand, but moved to the Netherlands and established himself as a central figure in The Hague's underground electronic music scene from the early 1980s onward. He began mixing around 1980, inspired by the Italo-disco movement, and launched his professional DJ career in 1990 with parties in local squats and clubs, including a residency at LA D.S. from 1992 to 1996. Known for his deep knowledge of Detroit techno, Italo, electro, house, garage, and acid—genres that defined the Dutch West Coast sound—he has been a frequent presence at Berghain and other international clubs since the late 1990s. As a producer, he released records through The Parallax Corporation with I-F and under his solo alias, with releases on Viewlexx and other underground labels. For decades, he has been a regular contributor to Intergalactic FM and continues to tour extensively across Europe and beyond.
