Peter M. Kersten, known as Lawrence, is a Hamburg-based producer and DJ who co-founded the influential Dial Records label in 1999 alongside Carsten Jost and Paul Kominek. Working primarily in deep house and minimal techno, Kersten began producing in 1998 shortly after leaving work as a gardener, drawing early inspiration from artists like Larry Heard. Under the Lawrence moniker, he has released several albums spanning Dial, Mule Musiq, Ghostly International, and Kompakt, while also operating under the alias Sten for more dancefloor-oriented material. His productions balance minimal structures with organic, wistful atmospherics, and his work has appeared on compilations alongside label mates Pantha du Prince and Efdemin. Kersten also co-founded Smallville Records and maintains residencies across Berlin's club circuit, regularly touring internationally.
