Born in Reading and raised in Horley, Luke Slater is an English techno producer and DJ active since the late 1980s. He pioneered a distinctly British strain of hard techno through his Planetary Assault Systems alias, which released extensively on Peacefrog and other foundational labels in the 1990s, while also exploring ambient and atmospheric textures under pseudonyms like The 7th Plain. Based in London, Slater has been a Berghain resident and has maintained close ties to the Berlin club and its label Ostgut Ton. He launched his own imprint Mote-Evolver in 2006, concentrating on limited 12" releases, and continues to work across multiple aliases including L.B. Dub Corp, blending elements of house, dub, and experimental production within the broader techno framework.
