Hüseyin Evirgen is a classically trained composer and producer based in Berlin working under the solo moniker Magna Pia since 2016. He studied composition, piano, and electronic music at the University of Istanbul and Mozarteum Salzburg before forming the techno duo Cassegrain with Alex Tsiridis following their meeting at the Red Bull Music Academy in 2008. As Magna Pia, Evirgen develops unorthodox dance floor techno informed by 1990s references, blending acoustic piano with synthesis on releases for Counterchange, Soma, and Feral Note, as well as his own Arcing Seas imprint co-founded with Tsiridis. His work merges contemporary club music with archaic symbolism and avant-garde sensibilities, drawing from nearly two decades of composing for theatre, dance, and mixed media. Evirgen's solo albums explore introspective and experimental approaches to techno production, balancing hypnotic rhythmic structures with abstract sound design.
