New York-born Monty Luke is now based in Berlin, where he has established himself as a producer and DJ bridging Detroit techno heritage with contemporary electronic sounds. He spent over a decade in Detroit working as label manager for Carl Craig's Planet-E Communications before launching his own imprint, Black Catalogue, which has become a platform for raw, underground electronic music talent. Luke has released and remixed music on labels including Rekids, Hypercolour, Ostgut Ton, and Planet-E, drawing on influences from dub, reggae, and the deep techno traditions of Detroit. He appears regularly at Berghain and hosts the MusicWeek podcast, a weekly roundtable reviewing contemporary electronic music releases.
