New York native Hayden Payne relocated to Berlin in the early 2010s and emerged as Phase Fatale in 2014. He holds residencies at Berghain and Khidi, anchoring his practice in those communities. Drawing on post-punk and EBM influences alongside club machinery, Payne crafts industrial-laden techno marked by broken rhythms, distorted basslines, and conceptual depth. His discography spans Hospital Productions, Ostgut Ton, and Jealous God, with landmark releases including the albums Redeemer (2017) and Scanning Backwards (2020). In 2018 he launched BITE, his own label, platforming artists working beyond conventional techno boundaries.
