Swedish producer and DJ Robert Leiner was born in Gothenburg in 1966 and began DJing in his mid-teens, eventually relocating to Belgium in the early 1990s to work as studio manager and engineer for R&S Records in Ghent. Recording initially as Source and later The Source Experience, Leiner released the influential 1993 album Organized Noise on R&S and followed it with 1994's Visions of the Past under his own name, an album that bridged acid techno and ambient soundscapes. His work on R&S—including the albums Different Journeys and singles like Synaesthesia and Zyklus—established him as a key figure in early European techno and trance during the late 1980s and 1990s. Now nearly four decades into his career, Leiner remains active as both DJ and producer, continuing to record and perform globally.
