Stacey Hotwaxx Hale was the first female DJ to play house music on Detroit radio in the late 1980s and remains a defining figure in the city's dance music landscape. Based in Detroit, she has performed internationally at venues including the Apollo Theater in New York, Ibiza, Berlin, and Amsterdam. Hale's sound blends house and techno with funk, hip hop, and Motown soul, drawing from Detroit's diverse musical heritage. She has held residencies at Detroit clubs including Studio 54, The Warehouse, and Spotlite, and collaborated with artists including Eddie Fowlkes and Kevin Saunderson. Beyond DJing, Hale works as an educator, radio host, and community advocate through organizations like Girls Rock Detroit and Sheometry Festival.
