Anthony Child, known as Surgeon, is a Birmingham-based producer who has anchored UK techno since the early 1990s. His industrial-inflected sound combines hard-hitting techno with funk, swing, and dub-space sensibilities learned partly through his Berlin connections. Core releases include three albums on Tresor in the late 1990s (Basictonalvocabulary, Balance, Force + Form) and subsequent LPs on his Dynamic Tension label. Surgeon held a three-year residency at Tresor during the 1990s and his production style has substantially influenced the Ostgut and Berghain sound. He remains active across remixing, hardware-based live improvisation, and collaborative projects including British Murder Boys with Regis.
