Tikiman is the alias of Paul St. Hilaire, a reggae vocalist and musician from Dominica who moved to Berlin in the mid-1990s. He became a defining voice of Berlin's dub techno scene through prolific collaborations with Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus of Rhythm & Sound, Basic Channel, and Chain Reaction, blending roots-reggae vocals with minimalist electronic production. St. Hilaire founded the label False Tuned under the Basic Channel umbrella and has released work with producers including Deadbeat, Rhauder, Larry Heard, and others. Beyond his vocal contributions, he works as a composer, producer, and DJ, merging digital and analog instruments across multiple releases including his 2023 solo album Tikiman Vol.1 and recent collaborative projects. His influence extends across generations of dub and electronic music producers.
