Yuzo Iwata is a Japanese DJ and producer of Cuban and Japanese heritage, born in Saitama and originally based in Sapporo, where he ran the FLOPPY party series at Precious Hall and built a reputation within the city's underground music community. Since relocating to Berlin in 2016, he has become a regular at Säule at Berghain and other major venues, developing a sound rooted in electronic psychedelic music that combines acid-inspired elements with emotional depth. His debut EP Kiteki emerged in 2018 on Pluie/Noir, followed by his album Kaizu on Melbourne's Butter Sessions, which drew comparisons to an imaginary boat journey across global islands through borderless electronic rhythms. Iwata approaches his sets eclectic and experimentally, weaving field recordings and storytelling through carefully curated tracks that blur genres. He continues to work in Berlin's record shops while producing and DJing across the city's club landscape.
